Christina Thomas

Twenty-three years ago, Christina Thomas discovered how to use a sewing machine and started quilting. After mastering the straight stitch, she focused on free machine work and other surface embellishments. The tactile and versatile properties of fibre have provided Christina with an outlet to explore her creative spirit as she implements as many techniques as she can. Christina enjoys creating her own designs, both realistic and abstract with the intent of providing lots of opportunity to manipulate the surface.

Christina believes that to teach is to learn. She has been teaching her acquired skills for the past 20 years, expanding from her quilt building experience to surface design techniques. Recently, Christina focused on being a student and completed her certification in Design and Craft –Stitched Textile (Machine Embroidery) and Creative Computing into Stitched Textiles through City & Guilds.
